PLANET DEAFANTASTIC ANNOUNCES
Deaf Christmas Business Show 2015
We are delighted to confirm that the 5th Anniversary of the Deaf Christmas Business Show will be held in another fantastic new venue in Central London near Old Street. We again have an exciting programme planned that we are sure everyone will really enjoy and provide some positive energy to welcome in the New Year 2016!
Start Time: 6pm – 12pm
St Luke Centre
90 Central St
(Tube: Old Street, 10 min walk)
Since the Equality and Human Rights Commission Report in 2010, the proportion of Deaf and Disabled people experiencing barriers of access to education, employment and setting up businesses is still a much higher percentage than the national average. This event was originally created to do something positive about this situation tackling lack of employment and educational opportunities for Deaf and disabled people. In addition, the events aim to reduce social isolation of Deaf and disabled people.
Planet Deafantastic is an initiative we have launched to do something positive about this!
Deaf and disabled people often suffer from the inability to access information even though it seems readily available to them. There seem to be opportunities and information everywhere, yet Deaf and disabled people often face barriers to accessing these opportunities and information.
TICKETS ON SALE NOW
To take part in this event, we invite you to book a place/or stall and/or present your service and products The stalls not have to be manned as they will be in form of exhibits whilst the presentations are taking place. This year we will have more great people giving informative presentations and sharing experiences, tips and advice on how to set up a business or improve prospects in employment. This event is a great opportunity for Deaf, hard of hearing and disabled people to network and be motivated.
Please note that places are limited and we urge you to book early to avoid disappointment.
We will have a delicious buffet food served after the presentations and throughout evening, including alcoholic and soft drinks, fantastic DJ to entertain the guests and Father Christmas will distribute presents to children
Two years ago Mayoral candidate John Biggs came to open the event at the Hackney Empire and gave a brilliant inspirational speech, so we would be delighted if you would consider sending a suitable representative who could say a few words or give a short presentation.
Feedback from our previous event included this comment from a hearing person “From a perspective of those passionate about Deaf issues, being present at a Deaf event where everyone is using BSL (British Sign Language) was an awesome and insightful experience.”
